Mission Project
A very important part of the work of Kalahari New Hope is the spreading of the gospel, which involves evangelism, making disciples, building up leaders, systematic teaching, and preaching to the neighboring tribes who come in contact with the San tribe.
At the end of 2019 by God’s grace over 60 churches have been planted with over 700 people converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ! There have been 17 baptisms just in 2019 and more than 40 leaders are being trained for the work of the ministry. The team from Kalahari has started outreaches in four other parts of Namibia and even in two remote regions in Botswana. All these steps have reached out to dozens of villages.
In the Okongo area, land of the Ovambo tribe, 600 km from the Kalahari New Hope base, a new mission point has been set up. We have seen over time the need for the Kalahari New Hope mission to be involved among other tribes in Namibia as well. So, in 2019 our mission got also involved in the Ovambo, Kavango, Mbukushu and the Motswana tribes. The mission department faces a constant need for volunteers who dedicated both their bodies and their souls.
People are touched by the preaching of the word of God. They decide to follow Christ, get taught of the elementary principles of the gospel and are being baptized. It is known throughout the bush that anyone who is baptized becomes a messenger of the Lord. We teach them that wherever they go, they must preach the gospel. In this way they are held accountable and avoid the state of spiritual indifference.
Our desire is to open a mission base in the north of the country, in Divundu, a region located about 500 km from our mission base in Tsumkwe. That region on the east is bordered by Botswana and we want to reach out with the Gospel there as well.
There is only one truth of the gospel. The obedience to the simplicity of its truth is what has given birth to this whole mission: “Here I am Lord, send me!”
The beginning
In 2009 the village evangelism began with a couple of donkeys. The main challenge has not been the means of transportation, neither then, and nor it is now. Later a motorcycle was used for it and since 2020, the village-mission has been done with a total of 10 off-road vehicles. And yet, the same challenge remains: “I am looking for a man among them who will build a wall and stand in the middle of the gap before Me for the land, that I may not destroy it.”
The experiences and the testimonies both of the volunteers and of the converted bushmen speak of the same truth: God loves this tribe, and Jesus Christ paid the ransom price for them as well.
The Kalahari New Hope mission is also part of God’s plan. Kalahari New Hope is not only represented by the groups of the volunteers, but it is also represented by the group of churches that support it spiritually, materially and financially. There is also a group of dedicated pastors and dedicated brothers who formed the Kalahari New Hope Association through which the spiritual work and all its activities and projects are being coordinated. They are joined by the families of the volunteers, joined also by other missions KNH cooperates with and joined by the people who are in direct or indirect way related to our mission.
Someone turning to Christ may take only a moment, but the transition of a people from a life ruled by witchcraft to a Christian way of life can transcend many generations.
Foundational work
The spiritual work is carried out based on a strong biblical foundation. The basic foundation of the gospel-work has to be emphasized. While humanitarian projects help people on a material level, which is absolutely necessary, still, their most important need is for salvation, therefore the foundation of the spiritual work is ONLY based on Jesus Christ.
